Snowboarding
Overview
Snowboarding has a steeper start than skiing. The first day involves a fair bit of sitting down in the snow, usually faster than you intended. Stick with it, because once the basics click the progression is quick, and linking your first proper turns is hard to beat.
Lessons are the shortcut. A good instructor gets you sliding, turning and stopping safely, and saves you days of guessing. Beginners spend time on gentle slopes learning toe and heel edges before heading anywhere steeper.
The instructors on adventuro run lessons and guided days for every level, from never-strapped-in to riding the whole mountain. Wrist guards and a helmet are well worth it, and so is a sense of humour.
FAQs

None. Beginner lessons assume you have never touched a board and build from standing up to turning safely.
With lessons, sensible slopes and protective gear, the risks are well managed. Wrist guards and a helmet are strongly recommended early on.
Warm waterproof layers, gloves, goggles and a helmet. Wrist guards save a lot of grief in the first few days.
A bit of general fitness helps with all the getting up, but you can take it at your own pace.
Most people are linking turns and getting down gentle runs within a few days of lessons. After that it is all refinement and confidence.
