- Lead sheltered-water trips for mixed craft groups (kayak, canoe, SUP) within Paddle UK sheltered-water definitions.
- Volunteer or work at clubs and centres that require a recognised leadership award for trip organisers.
- Progress toward discipline-specific leaders such as Paddlesport Touring Leader, Sea Kayak Leader or Coach Award pathways.
- Deliver Paddle Start and Discover sessions as part of some leader remits when deployed by a centre.

- On-water tasks: Plan and lead a realistic trip for a group using more than one craft type. Personal paddling, rescue skills and group care are observed throughout.
- Scenarios: Assessors may introduce minor incidents to test communication and calm decision-making. You are graded on leadership judgement, not speed.
